On 26 June 2018 the international conference Media in Transition – in the past hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – will take place in Utrecht, The Netherlands, organized by media scholars from Utrecht University (UU).
This event is divided into four plenary sessions, thematically revolving around ongoing transformations affecting the very foundations of traditional media industries – from datafication to changing media infrastructures, from participatory empowerment to niche strategies.
Internationally distinguished academics such as Henry Jenkins, Jay David Bolter, Jennifer Holt, Vicky Mayer, Amanda Lotz, Lisa Parks, Roberta Pearson, Jussi Parikka, Erkki Huhtamo and William Uricchio will share their perspectives – in conversation with participants from notable cultural institutions and key-players from the media industries in the Netherlands.
Media in Transition@UU thus recognizes the urgency to rethink existing analytical models for timely research and aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between academics and practitioners.
